Autodesk Revit 2013

Autodesk® Revit® software works the way architects and designers think, so you can develop higher-quality, more accurate architectural designs. Using tools specifically built to support Building Information Modelling workflows, you can capture and analyse concepts and maintain your vision throughout design, documentation and construction.

Two products are available for architectural design:

  • Autodesk Revit 2013, a comprehensive solution containing the functionality of Autodesk® Revit® Architecture 2013, Autodesk® Revit® MEP 2013 and Autodesk® Revit® Structure 2013 software, available in the Autodesk® Building Design Suite Premium and Ultimate editions.
  • Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013, a stand-alone application

What's New

Revit Architecture software features new component-based stairs tools.

Stairs Tools
In Autodesk Revit and Revit Architecture, new component-based stairs allow more flexibility and add capabilities for modelling and documenting stair designs. Stair runs, landings and support components can now be modified independently. Annotation and representation of stairs have been improved based on industry standards.

Revit architectural software features railing modelling enhancements.

Railing Enhancements
In Revit and Revit Architecture software, railing enhancements enable you to create railings more accurately. New railing systems tools help you to create transitions and extensions much more easily. Top rails and handrails can be edited and modified as individual elements enabling you to control their appearance.

Revit features visualisation enhancements.

Visualisation Enhancements
Autodesk Revit and Revit Architecture software offer a variety of visualisation enhancements to give you more control over the appearance of your project within the software. A new Raytracing feature offers interactive real-time rendering; it also enables you to render Rich Photorealistic Content (RPC) in viewport. Ghost surface and transparency overrides can now be customised with each building element. Preview RPC in the realistic visual style, as well as enhanced background options for creating compelling presentation graphics.

Revit features Industry Foundation Class (IFC) enhancements.

Enhanced Industry Foundation Class (IFC) Support
BuildingSMART International Industry Foundation Class (IFC) version 2x3 is now certified for Revit. This means that Revit complies with global industry standards, including GSA standards. Open source Revit IFC exporter has been enhanced to support emerging standards. You can propose changes to the IFC export to support regional requirements, allowing you to share information more effectively with third-party applications to support design workflows.

Revit Architecture software features construction modelling enhancements to the parts capabilities.

Construction Modelling Enhancements: Parts
Further enhancements to the parts capabilities improve insight to constructability of building elements. You can now merge, exclude and restore parts, as well as divide parts with gap offset. Objects can be split and manipulated with linked models, enabling more accurate modelling with multidisciplinary design models.

Revit architectural design software features enhanced assemblies modelling capabilities.

Construction Modelling Enhancements: Assemblies
Powerful assemblies modelling capabilities have been enhanced in Autodesk Revit and Revit Architecture, enabling you to place assemblies on a regular project sheet, as well as transfer assembly views with ease when the original parent assembly needs to be deleted. In addition, assemblies can now be exported to Industry Foundation Class (IFC).

Revit features physical materials for building performance analysis.

Physical Materials for Building Performance Analysis
Physical materials improve efficiency of BIM-based building performance workflows by assigning thermal and structural properties to the building envelope. Construction thermal value defined within Revit building elements can now be exported as gbXML for downstream building performance analysis applications.

Revit features Autodesk Cloud integration.

Autodesk Cloud Integration
Revit makes it easier for Autodesk Subscription customers to gain access to integrated Autodesk Cloud features, including rendering and conceptual energy analysis. Send your designs to the cloud for faster, higher-quality rendering without disrupting your workflow.

Core Features

Parametric Components are the basis for all building components in Autodesk Revit family software products.

Parametric Components
Parametric Components, also known as families, are the basis for all building components designed in Revit. They offer an open, graphical system for design thinking and form making as well as an opportunity to express design intent at increasingly detailed levels. Use Parametric Components for the most elaborate assemblies, such as cabinetry and equipment, as well as for the most elementary building parts, such as walls and columns. Best of all, no programming language or coding is required.

The Material Takeoff is a Revit tool that helps you to calculate detailed material quantities.

Material Takeoff
Material Takeoff is a Revit tool that helps to calculate detailed material quantities and track material quantities in cost estimates. The parametric change engine helps to support more accurate material takeoffs.

Revit family products feature Revit Point Cloud tools.

Point Cloud Tools
Revit® Point Cloud tools connect laser scans directly into the BIM process, helping to accelerate renovation and retrofit projects. By visualising point clouds directly within the Revit software environment, it is easier than ever to create an as-built model with more confidence and accuracy.

Capture design ideas in a photorealistic state with Revit family products.

Design Visualisation
Capture design ideas in a photorealistic state. With easy user interaction, high-quality output and faster render times, the mental ray®* rendering engine enables superior design presentation.

Revit features bidirectional associativity.

Bidirectional Associativity
A change anywhere is a change everywhere. In Revit, all model information is stored in one place. As a result, any information that is changed is effectively changed throughout the Revit model.

Revit Server helps project teams to collaborate on shared Revit models.

Revit Server
Revit® Server helps project teams in different locations to collaborate more easily on shared Revit models across a wide-area network (WAN). This Revit feature helps you to maintain an integrated collection of central Revit models on a single server that can be accessed from local servers. Built-in redundancy helps to provide protection in case of WAN connectivity loss.

Revit links your data with industry-leading formats.

DWG, DWF, DXF & DGN Support
Revit imports, exports and links your data with industry-leading formats, including DWG™, DXF™, DGN and IFC, so you can work more easily with data from consultants, clients or contractors.

Revit features worksharing tools.

Worksharing
Worksharing distributes the power of the parametric building modelling environment across the project team. Multiple users can share the same intelligent building information model and save their work to a central file.
