**Using Inventor 2013 with AutoCAD 2013
Our assemblies and components are detailed in Inventor dwg format. Once they've gone through QA, we Save Copy As to an AutoCAD dwg as for deliverable. We also make a multi-sheet DWF to send as a deliverable.
Here is an image of the geometry problem. More images are attached.
This seems to only happen with fasteners from Content Center. This happens with two different cutomization files (ini) we've created for the client, as well as the default one given with Inventor.
This issue has not been one in the past but has just yesterday been discovered. In the Inventor dwg, the geometry is fine. However, once an AutoCAD dwg the geometry goes screwy. Since the multi-sheet DWF is made from the AutoCAD dwgs, they also contain the bad geometry.
We recently installed SP2 and SP2 Update 1. Might this be tied to something screwy in those service packs?
My company has recently made the switch to Inventor 2014. When I open presentation files, everything seems to come in properly but most of the model tree is missing. I am still able to pick on the parts in order to tweak them, but as I work on the presentation, I have had all the trails disappear on me. The only presentation file where I get the full model tree seem to be on the ones where I did not turn off the visibility on any of the components. Has anybody else experienced this and does anybody know what the solution is?
I made this sketch and the two marked dimensions were added when i pressed the Automatic Dimension and Constraints tool, because, in spite of all the dimensions i put manually, the sketch wasn't fully constrained.
Why wasn't it? it seems to me that i gave all the necessary information.
I made a weldment assembly but by mistake inserted the finished part.
Now i want to move some of the features of the finished part to the machining environment in the weldment.
Can it be done?
I'm in the market for a new laptop that'll, I hope, last for at least 3 yrs as far as capabilities of Inventor.
Assemblies avg about 100-200 parts, need for high end animations as well (this is what's killing my current system).
Anyways, I found this system and wanted your take on it:
Alienware M14x R2
- Processor: Intel Core 3rd Generation i7-3740QM Processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.7GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- 1 TB SATA II Hard Drive (5400RPM)
- 12GB, DDR3, 1600MHz
- 14.0 inch HD (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
- 8X DVD +/- RW Drive
- 2 GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForceGT 650M using NVIDIA Optimus technology
Price of $1600 as it's a refurbish and I'd also have to replace Windows 7 Home with Pro for Business which will add about $300.
I'm also looking at new M4700 or M6700 laptops but those are running around $3000+ and well....in this economy.....
Lastly, I'm not much of a fan of Dell, I'm more of a Gateway person as they've always done me well over the years and still do.
Anyways, your thoughts on this pre-holiday Friday.
A suspension I have ben working on: A quick render in Showcase
I'm working in ancient Inventor 2009 and I'm using view representations for all of my .ipn levels. I've accidentally skipped one step and would like to put it in the middle of the others. Is there a way to re-organize the representations. I've attached a picture. I need to insert a representation above the check marked one.
I have viewed the Equation Curve tutorials, and they show the Equation Curve command Icon in the Sketch ribbon, in the Draw area, just above the Spline command icon. I do not have such an icon, and cannot find it in the "Customize User Commands..." window either.
I am using Inventor 2012 Professional SP2.
Any ideas why the command icon is absent ?
Is there a way to make the default size of a chamfer 1/16"?
I need to create a column in a partslist that reads IDENTIFYING NO. instead of the factory PART NUMBER title. When i create the new property in the column chooser dialog box how do i get inventor to pull the PART NUMBER from iprops over to the IDENTIFYING NO. column. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I have an assembly that calls an iAssembly, with iParts in it. All parts update properly when opened independently.
When the iAssembly calls one of the iParts, its iLogic rule will not run unless I open the part, run the rule, then update it in the iAssembly.
Similarly, in the top-level, the iAssembly will not update when I call a new row in the table.
How do I force the rules in these iParts and iAssemblies to run, and update the parts, from the top-level? Or is this just a case of "iLogic and iParts don't play well"?
For an example, here is the rule I tried in my iAssembly, to call an update on the iPart.
It found the part, but could not find the rule. The rule is spelled correctly, and is in the file called by instance 350-5075P.1.
Error in rule: control, in document: 350-5075B.iam
RunRule("350-5075P.1", "rivet_spacing"): Cannot find a rule with the name: "rivet_spacing".
The parts I have saved to the content centre get the part name 1.ipt when I place them in an assembly. What am I doing wrong?
Is there any way to place a full round or bullnose feature on the end of a cylinder without having to use any formulas or pay attention to dimensions similar to the three face selection of the full round fillet option?
Obviously you can take the diameter/2, but the three face selection of the full round fillet is quite simple, and if you didn't originally plan on having the full round it takes extra digging to come up with the right parameter to use.
is there any way to make all the rows in the BOM/parts list on an IDW the same height? I did a search on this and saw nothing new on this. the reason we need this is for a program we use after export to dwg. it is a program we use in autocad that is a txt copy lisp program to populate attributed customer title blocks.
im the CAD Admin in a large CAD office.
I want get your guys profesional input :smileyhappy:
I want to be able to firstly create a custom favourite library in the CC, and get rid off all the stuff we dont use in the office, and then share that customised CC library to my co workers as favourites , we are Using Vault WG 2013, can we share it in the vault or make it part of our server console, so I dont need to do this on every single machine?
secondly, I want to be able to customise the way the frame generator naming is getting created as default, there are way to many frame0001 and skeleton0001 in my vault.
and the users is reluctant to change this manually, ....
ie WVT-SANS-L-60 x 60-001.ipt as a default for angles.
and last, I want to know if I have custom memebers like this, and need to do a copy design in vault, do I rather re use the or Do I copy it, what is the best practise?
As everybody know copy/paste excel file into an inventor drawing is sometimes difficult. As you can see in the printscreen a special character is not converted. I supposed it's because this special character is not in the AIGDT or is in the extended character set wich is not considered in Inventor?
It would be a good wish if this type of basic operation could be done
I have a pull down parameter that changes to 4 different values. Is it possible to make other text in a sketched symbol appear bold or normal based on this parameter input? I figured i could swap out the sketched symbol with ilogic but I dont really want 4 sketched symbols showing the same info just with different text highlighted sitting in my template
I am new to Inventor and 3D modelling. I have gone through the three tutorials that comes with Inventor on modelling a part. I am now trying to model a fuselage for an RC plane and am trying to copy a spline from one work plane to a new one and link them together so that if I edit one, it is reflected in the other. Copying and then pasting into the new plane doesn't link the two splines together.
If anyone can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Can someone describe proper procedure for a design milestone, revision so to speak, that could be retrieved later on.
I want to be able to go back to todays state of assemblies/drawings but need to change them to a new version and dont have time to copy design...
As far as I understand getting previous version of assemblies, drawings, so on, its not just get/open type of thing, since vault will not let you work with non-updated version of files and so on...
