RFA viewer?

Wed, 2013-04-10 21:45

Does autodesk produce a free RFA viewer?

If not, is there an alternate program that can import/convert rfa files?  For example, Bobrick produces item specs in an rfa file only; I would like to view/import the file into a dwg of mine.  It is not critical that it be imported directly, but at least to see it on screen to confirm the specifications.

Most likely I can contact Bobrick for a converted file, but that takes time and unecessary resources, and is only a solution for their specs.  I have come across rfa files only from other mfg's as well.

A display driver is missing or corrupt (.HDI)

Wed, 2013-04-10 17:59

This is not happening.

I just got a new laptop, it's totally clean.

Installed F-secure and made exceptions rules for all Autodesk related stuff

Installed Office-package.

Downloaded and installed Autocad LT 2014, no problems detected but when I start I get this error message.

I got less then 2 hours to fix this and a few other things I havn't gotten to yet and I need this laptop up and running tomorrow for a seminar.

"A display driver file (.HDI) is missing or has been corrupted. The program will be closed."

This problem may be caused by missing .hdi files in the following location: "Autodesk>Autocad LT 2014>Drv>

I can't find the specified file under the folder so I'm guessing it is missing, any quick fixes for this?

Edit: I installed it with love and compassion so why would it do this to me!?

Dimensions

Wed, 2013-04-10 02:26

I opened a floor plan that had existing dimensions and I noticed that if I move a wall or touch the dimension the text changes to a way bigger demension text - it's like it changed dimension scale - but only the numbers in the text changes not the size or dimension lines. Is there a setting to prevent that from happening? Any help greatly appreciated.

Autocad LT 2014 download problem

Tue, 2013-04-09 20:40

Hi there,

we've bought a new LT 2014 license as a download version a few days ago and then tried to download the file. But we had an error message saying: "file not found".

We had received a mail from digitalriver with the orderconfirmation and summery of the order, but no serial or something like that. So I can't try to download a trial and register it...due to the missing serial.

Any idea of a solution?

We send several mails to the customerservice...but no reaction yet. Hope you can help me out...we really need the product...

BR Carsten

AutoCAD LT - problem with field referencing block attribute

Tue, 2013-04-09 20:13

Ok, I am trying to insert a text field into a block attribute and setting that field to display the information of an attribute in another block.  What happens is that when I close the file and re-open it the text field loses its connection to the attribute that it is referencing.

Now, I have been able to make this work in the passed, however the difference now is that I am asking the text field to reference an attribute of an annotative block.  That appears to be the reason it does not work.

Has anyone out there been able to make this work with annotative blocks?  Anyone know if it is a system variable I can change?

Thank you!

Fatal Error Message

Tue, 2013-04-09 01:08

Out of no where I started getting message: "Fatal Error unhandled e0434f4dh exception at fdab9e5dh" which then prevents AutoCAD LT 2010 to start.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and both times added Update 2.  Any suggestions?

Can someone recommend a spec for running 10 mgb + drawings and multitasking??

Mon, 2013-04-08 18:49

Hi, could someone please suggest a specification for a new pc that will allow me to easily work on drawings that can be 10 megabytes plus which will also allow me to do other things at the same time with no issue? Operating system, RAM, Processor, Graphics card? This will be for running Autocad LT 2014. Would be much appreciated! Thanks.

2 questions

Sat, 2013-04-06 19:06

1. Is there a way to place the list of layouts on the right side of the screen as a vertical list rather than the horizontal scroll along the bottom of the screen? A horizontal list isn't very useful when you have more than a handful of layouts.

2. Is there a way to tell AutoCAD to not treat hatches as geometry? So it doesn't snap to the end of a hatch line for instance?

Thanks in advance for any input you have

Service Pack Cannot Find AutoCad Installation

Sat, 2013-04-06 04:17

I am trying to install the service pack 1 for Autocad LT 2012 but keep recieving the error message "This service pack could not be installed becuase it is not designer for the version of Autocad LT 2012-English that is installed on your completer."  I am running 64bit and downloaded the same.  I tried 32 just to see what happened and it says the expected product could not be located on the computer.

The bigger issue is that I keep getting Fatal Errors when trying to print certain files and hope that the SPs will help fix this!

Dimension styles

How do you make custom dimension styles global? How do you apply them to existing drawings with recreating each time.

Attr Block not Attr

Fri, 2013-04-05 23:10

This may be an extension of my previous post.

Same titleblock as before, but now, while I can now get the titleblock to insert into the drawing, it doesn't insert as an attributed block. When you double click on it after insertion to edit the fields, it just opens up the regular text editor.

However, again, the exact same block inserted from the Tool Palette works perfectly.

This might be a clue though... when inserted, it looks like there are two blocks with different names. Again, this is a brand new drawing, so there are no blocks in here prior to insertion:

Could this be the "block within a block" thing?

Any ideas?

Tool Palettes over Network

Fri, 2013-04-05 22:22

In our company we have a Tool Palette guru. She has READ/WRITE privileges to a Tool Palettes Development folder on our network. When she has an update to share with the masses, a network admin goes into the Tool Palettes Development folder and moves the corresponding files and folders to Tool Palettes folder where all CAD users have only READ access. All users point to the Tool Palettes folder on the network as well as a folder on tehor local machine so they can create their own custom Tool Palettes.

We have several users that have to reload their Tool Palettes every time they login to their workstation. Also, whenever a user logins to a different workstation, the Tool Palettes images have to be reloaded manually.

I'm thinking there has to be a way so that 1) once the Tool Palettes are loaded for a user they don;t have to be reloaded and 2) we don;t have to reload the Tool Palettes images when a user changes workstations.

The text inside the viewports in one drawing in paper space shows thickened when zoomed in and is hard to read, and this only happens in one drawing.

What is the setting to change this?

Thanks.

Block Insertion Problem

Fri, 2013-04-05 01:38

Hello all,

I'm trying to insert a block using the "insert dialogue box".

However, when I do, if I have the box for "insertion point" unchecked, I get the error "Block Insertion Failed" (picture 1).

If I check that box, I get the error "*Invalid* Block references itself".

I have purged the drawing and there are no other blocks in the drawing.

Why would this be happening?
