Dear all,

I have encountered the paste as block command of using AutoCAD 2012. i exploded the block and modified. After that i select the objects that i exploded and want to create another block again. I could do it before now most of the time when i select the objects and used the commond option " copy with base point" . When i select the base poing it took about 7-8 seconds( which is supposed to be very long) and in the commond line it display as Img-1. After i selected the base point..again it will take a few seconds and display the following Img-2 & Img-3. Anyone pls help me to find the solution for my issue. And my autocad performance is really slow nowadays. Any option i can do for faster speed? Especially whenever i select the object i hv to wait about 3 seconds. Any idea please.

I'm currently using AutoCad 2013 on a Lenovo Thinkpad X230 with windows 7 64 bit.  I have 8 gb of ram and a core I7 processor which seem up to the task for the rather small files I create.  My issue is that whenever I initiate the mtext command or attempt to edit an mtext object, my cpu usage will jump from about 0 to 4% up to 20 to 30% and will stay at that level until I close the drawing.  This causes the fans to run constantly and makes working a little more jumpy.  I've tried removing AutoCad completely and reinstlling.  I've tried loading up AutoCAd 2014 (and subsequently removing it) and now I'm back to AutoCad 2013 and the problem persists. 

I was wondering if anyone can help me debug this problem.  I'm assuming it has something to do with the computer or some other software that is running in the background.  It's odd that it would only affect this one command.  The computer is only 1 month old and I've done the hardware checks that Lenovo offers (no problems indicated).  Any help is greatly appreciated.

basically i have two drawing files. Both have the same linetypes. I draw a line (doesn't matter in which file) on any linetype. Then cut and past it into the other drawing. Then for some reason a whole lot of unknown linetypes show up in my linetype manager. when i go into linetype manager and load, they aren't there. So how can one linetype bring in  dozens of mysterious linetypes? 

These mysterious linetypes aren't in either files linetype manager, or in the load area before i cut and paste.

I've attached pictures to show the linetypes that are showing up for some reason.

Having an issue with linetypes that are proprogating within all our drawings in our office...  I have tried to purge, delete all and wblock and nothing seems to work.  The only thing that I found to work is superpurge...

I wblocked out wblock drawing and the size fell but the file still has all the linetype...

If I draw something in wblock and copy clip it to another drawing then I get all the extra linetype from wblock dwg...

"You do not have permission to save to this location. Contact your administrator to obtain permission.

Hi All....I am running a new full version of AutoCAD 2014 on Windows 7 64 bit. It is litterally taking 5-7 seconds to zoom, switch pages, regen, or mostly anything else. Is there a fix for this. It is beyond irritating.

As the layout tabs I'd like to have a multiple model-views tabs.

I can use layouts tabs, I can change the background color to same as model tab and all its ok. 

However I'm unable to set scale to have text and annotation with a "human" size (that is, thinking on my screen and not on the paper).

Maybe this is a newbie question but I'm lost....

What is what I must to set ? I dont want to use layout to print, but to view my drawing with custom layer settings.

Any help ?

I am using Autocad Electrical 2013.  I want to know if it is possible to create a new drawing without it being attached to any project.  I can create the drawing using add new drawing and selecting the acad.dwt.  Then when you try to place a symbol it needs the wd_m file.  I uncheck the box for project settings and say ok.  Then when I try to put in the symbol it can't find the correct path.  Where do you change this path when there is no project file?

So my goal is to create a tool palette with all of the different legend blocks for mechanical work.

The blocks have all been created before I started working here.

I have the actual palettes created. Most blocks insert correctly (sizing, etc) but some seem to come in way to large. For example a 2x4 light will insert at 50x100....

I have made sure the actual block files are the right size, my INSUNITS, INSUNITSDEFSOURCE, INSUNITSDEFTARGET are all set to 0 for the sake of switching between imperial and metric.  

If anyone has a fix it or ideas on what needs to be changed it would be a great help!

Does anyone know if it is possible to link parametric dimensions so that if I change one dimension, other instances that are linked to it will change throughout the drawing? In the attached example, I would like to link the bottom dims to the top ones so that I only have to update them in the one spot.

I have recently upgraded from 2011 to 2014 AutoCAD.

Things have changed and for the most part this is great.
However, my old method of copying and pasting dimension text while working in a drawing no longer works.
This probably has something to do with the new AUTOCOMPLETE functionality in the command line.

Let me explain my method and maybe it will help to understand my problem.

I have a dimension style set to decimal inch format with a precision set to 0.00000000.
I do not annotate my drawings with this dimension style. It is used as a tool while creating large 3D models in AutoCAD.
My units are set to Arch Inches.

This allows me to use the text in the dimension as a tool that I can use to place objects with great precision.

Select dimension, Hit Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C. This copies Dim text to the clipboard. Now I can use that data to move, copy, stretch, etc, by just hitting Ctrl+V.

This is extremely handy when working with 3D models.

It no longer works in 2014.

I would rather have this functionality than the new Autocomplete.

I have turned off AUTOCOMPLETE, but it still does not let me paste the dimension data as before.

I have seen similar topic but without a solution. So I will make a new one.

I used to work in Autocad 2006 and now trying out AT 2012 before buying it and came acrose such an issue.

If I need to apply a texture to a curved surface (1/4 of cylinder in my case) in AT 2006 I use mapping and indicate 3 poits the UV to be applied. Furthermore I can use "fit to object" option which will fit the texture to the object (shrinking or stretching it). In AT 2012 there is different kind of mapping - there is no "fitting to object" so should I know dimensions exactly? And no indicating 3 points. Using cylinder mapping doesn't help me - texture won't show up. Have been playing around with mapping but no solution so far. Could you give me a clue please? What is step by step recomendation of applying a texture to such a surface?

Hello I recently installed the Student version of AutoCad 2013 on my Mac through Windows 7. I am not able to use the wheel on my mouse to get to the hand tool to move around. When I hold down the wheel, it swipes over to my Mac dashboard. Also the delete button does not delete. I have to use the E command. Any thoughts please? I'm a newbie and can't figure this out. Thanks!

I am creating a 3D model and have my selected view within a viewport on layout space.

My prefered visual style for the model is with no face style (i.e only isolines visible) with full shadows on. This looks perfect on layout space.

When plotting to pdf - it looks nothing like as shown despite setting the viewport shade style to as displayed or the selected visual style and the shadows don;t show.

As the pdf option is not providing the desired output. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there a way to render the model whilst showing no face style/material?

I welcome any comments you may have.
