Is there an easy way to change all the model geometry from New to Existing in one easy command? I drew a three story building complete with structural columns, beasms, curtain walls, doors, walls, floors, etc. and I need to now make it all 'Existing'.
Thanks in advance...
I have a request from an Architect to detach, purge and remove links from my model every time before I upload.
I used to clean up received models (MEP 2008-2010) thinking it would help with performance. It's been a years since I have done this and my model performance behaves no differently.
Is there any validity to his claims that this is beneficial on the Architectural side?
I have drawn pipe of different system but it comes out that the centreline are not the same (appears to be solid on the last three - see attached)
I am drawing trusses elevations. I can't find the way to show the axis of the steel profiles (chords, or web).
Is there any way to show the axis of the steel profiles in plan or elevation?
When I try to install Revit 2014 I get this message. See de picture attached.
Hi, I’ve created a family of water heaters and some require a hot outlet at the top and some 90˚ to the left.
I placed the connector on the top face of the sweep (as you can see in the first screen shot) but, when I change the parameter to 90˚ the connector seems to flip to the other end and is placed in the center of the tank (as you can see in the second screen shot).
I’ve tried creating the sweep every way I can think of but, this is always the end result.
Using Revit MEP 2011.
Thanks in advance for any help.
We have a central model that has several worksets and links. When we open the model all the workesets are closed. So I close the model, open the model with the open options and select All. The model opens with all the worksets open. I tried to save the model locally and centrall but the next time I go into the model the worksets are closed. I would like all the worksets to be open by default. Can anyone shed any light on why this might be happening?
This is for Revit 2014 (BDS) Build 20130709_2115(x64) UR1
Have anyone come across this problem: whenever i export a sheet from revit into Autocad i get the extension line in the sheet title block on a NPLT layer along with the boarder of the view on the sheet.
the thing is, i want this line to plot unlike the view boarder, and i think it is stupid to correct this issue in AutoCad specially if the number of drawings is huge. Can anyone help me with this issue
I'm trying to use the information given in the 'Cut Structural Member with Plane' topic in the wiki (http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2013/Help/00001-Revit_He0/2760-Tools_an2760/2812-Editing_2812/2900-Modifyin2900/2916-Cut_Stru2916), but it does not seem to work as advertised.
The element I am trying to cut is a family instance I have constructed myself, based on the Generic Model template. I have inserted the reference plane as instructed (see attached image).
Whilst the Cut Geometry function has no problem accepting my element as the element to cut, Revit then asks me to select the Family Instance to cut with. According to the wiki, I should be able to select the reference plane - which is exactly what I want, to add a custom cut angle to the component. Needless to say the software won't let me select the plane as the family instance.
Any idea if I'm doing something wrong? I did find an entry on here mentioning generic models but unfortunately it received no answer at the time. I hope to have better luck!
I downloaded from Autodesk Revit 2013 Educational Version. When I try to load a door family opens Program Folder with several sub folders, where are these families and why doesn't Revit go to where families are located. I have assumed there are families to load, just a double door.
What modifications have I got to make.

For some strange reason the wiring on my electrical lighting plan has gone awry. Suddenly there are tick marks on all my wiring instead on an isolated few. I'm not sure how this happened. Maybe a setting change? Any help is truly appreciated.
Hi there, I'm trying out the idea of using railings as egress path markers on our code plans. I've created a simple baluster family that is just a vertical model line (5' Should be tall enough to get cut through in plan) and a nested annotation symbol (in our case, an arrowhead to indicate direction) on the reference level. The baluster is supposed to show up every 4' along the railing, ideally giving me a line for the rail with arrowheads every 4' in a plan view. When I bring the family into a railing and make the railing, the annotation symbol doesn't show up in plan. Am I missing something? Is this a weird/wrong way to approach this? any help would be appreciated, thanks!
How do you modify a routing preference to choose certain fittings? We have DWV routing prefernces but they always use sanitary tees. My preference is to use combination eighth bend wyes, I don't want to have to put them in manually.
Is there a way to choose what fitting are selected by default? Similar to the way ACAD MEP is setup with pipeprefdef?
I recently reinstalled Revit architecture 2011 and now I am unable to save any work. When I save or save as, Revit simply freezes. If I hit esc it returns to a functioning status without saving. It is a Network License on single license server, if that makes any difference. Any help would be appreciated.
