I am a student using Inventor 2013 Professional. I'm working on a project for school comparing levees made of different materials. I've created multiple levees from different materials. I can perform stress analysis on some of the levees, but when I try to do the simulation on levees made with dirt or sand, I get an error stating "Some materials are not defined correctly. Please assign a valid override material in the Assign Materials dialog." Does anyone know how I can create levees with these materials and perform the stress analysis on them like I can with metal and concrete levees?
I am trying to shell this object (a smart phone case) on the OUTSIDE by 1.8mm. It is giving me an error message with one vertex too small (in the corner). I have gone down to .05mm to reduce the thickness just to see if it will shell at all, and it does not. Any thoughts? I finally got shapes to sweep here to make the object the correct shape and really need the actual object to be a shell 1.8mm larger than this current body.
How would I write a rule in a model document to start a new drawing from a template?
Using Inventor 2013.
I am making an ID tag that will be welded to a 12 sided tapered steel pole. I have to bend the tag to fit the pole. That part I can handle. I haven't had any trouble with embossing before but I haven't had to deal with a polygonal object either. As you will see in the attached screen shot I need to emboss the text onto the tag and have it stay true to the bends. I'm sure I can find a work around but it would be great if I didn't have to. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am iterating through a multi-level structured BOMView and checking to see if the component occurence(s) corresponding to each BOMRow are visible or not. It seems that only assemblies (and sub-assemblies) have valid occurences where I can check the Visible property. All parts are skipped (returns False). Is there a better way to do this, or am I doing something wrong?
My code is below:Private Function ItemIsVisible(ByRef bomRow As Inventor.BOMRow) As Boolean
Try Dim cDef As ComponentDefinition Dim cOcc As ComponentOccurrence For Each cDef In bomRow.ComponentDefinitions For Each cOcc In cDef.Occurrences If cOcc.Visible Then Return True Next cOcc Next cDef Return False Catch ex As Exception Return False End Try
Thanks and happy holidays!
I am trying to use the FEA program to find the stress in a vessel head. The head has two nozzles and each of the nozzles has a repad. I am able to add welds to the repads to connect them to the vessel head, but whenever I try to run the FEA analysis for the vessel, I get a "Mesh Error: Body Failure" for each of the welds at the vessel head. Any ideas on how to correct this? I have attached the file with one of the welds in place. ANy help is greatly appreciated.
I've got a simple iLogic rule that at one point is required to switch off visibility of all parts in the active assembly. The Command manager does not seem to be working for this - no error but nothing happens. I'm sure i'm missing something stupid - can anyone help?
ps. Mike Deck suggested the UserInteractionDisabled line of code in another forum thread as a workaround for pre-2013 releases, but this doesn't fix the problem. I'm using Inventor 2014.
ThisApplication.UserInterfaceManager.UserInteractionDisabled = False Dim oDef As ControlDefinition oDef = ThisApplication.CommandManager.ControlDefinitions.Item("AssemblyAllInvisibleDesignViewCmd") oDef.Execute ThisApplication.ActiveView.Update()
Im not totally familiar with VBA objects yet. I am in the process of making a form that displays the parts to an assembly in a list file. When i click the part, i want to show a preview of that part on the form. What object in the VBA window should i be using? i cant find anything but im sure its a feature that is available
I have an assembly with two similar items in it and have written code to replace the component based on a given selection. If I try to change item one, nothing happens. If I change items two, it changes both item two as well as item one. In the attached screenshot item one should have a full cover panel and item two should be open; however, they are both the same. I have stabilized the browser by changing the names to "Leg One:1" and Leg Two:1) and the components that are being replaced are standard assemblies to be replaces with other standard assemblies.
I'm sure I doing something stupid but am looking for any help that could be provided.
I was just wondering if anyone knows an easier way to program 45 degree corners on the top flange of two mating parts. We can't bend the ends on so they have to be welded. I am using inventor 2014 professional. Almost all my programming is done in sheet meetal. Thanks.
i need to select the lower right corner of the partlist.
Using a sketch, i've made a sheet metal face with a 1/4" thickness.
When i select "create flat pattern", inventor only uses a very small portion of the part, and the rest dissapears.
Inventor doesnt prompt any windows or generate an error message of any kind.
How can i include everything in my flat pattern?
I have a part that every time i try to do something (even click in a parameter entry field) the bottom line will say ´´excecuting update full part´´. This came out of nowhere and was working fine.
Anyone now how to turn this off or any idea what couldave happened?
It is so slow it´s impossible to work with.
Hi, I'm trying to split a part model for mold analysis. The complex cut line is along a variety of directions and axis. I'm using autodesk inventor 2014,
program keeps faulting out. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
We have a frequently used bearing assembly for dampers, mounted to plate consisting of a shaft hole w/ 2 countersunk holes for flat head cap screws to mount the bearing.
I have a stamp for the hole array into the plate, and can individually iMate each FHCS into said holes after placing in the assembly onto the plate.
Is there a way to set up the iMates so that the bearing assembly would plop in automatically into the two separate countersunk holes? Not sure if you would have to create iMates in the stamp...or if thats even possible.
Sometimes the damper may have 2 bearing assemblies @ opposite side of the frame for one blade shaft, sometimes we may have as many as 4-5 blade shafts (10 bearing assy's). So Im imagining dragging the thing to each iMated array and dropping it in...
Thanks for any help.
Are there any ways of creating "quick key" triggers using ilogic? For examlpe I have a ilogic code and I want to press "Ctrl k" or some combo of keys to trigger this particular code.
This maybe a newbie question but the company I work for is branching out from a job shop scenario into a production line shop. We produce a piece of equipment with numerous parts and assemblies that we would like to use as a base model. We do not or will ever use vault so I'm trying to come up with a library/content center area where I can store the parts and assemblies that then can be inserted into new assemblies which would create a completely new design based on existing parts. My problem is lack of experience in setting up a good library/ content center area, I do not know what would be an acceptable plan of attack, right now I have moved the complete assembly onto the server in its own location but this is where I get stumped. I have set up a project file to use this area as a library and it seems to work but I'm not sure this is the right way to do this any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Did the ability to add multiple envelopes to a single part not make it to 2014? In the demo video from Autodesk it shows you can do that but I don't see that button in 2014?
i have created a user parameter in a assembly, then creating a member with FG i use that parameter as memmber offset.
The same with other members.
Changing from Parameters that parameter no update happen,
I have tried rebuild all, refresh..no working.
The only thing that works, is to use the "change" command , select my member(s) , change nothing, than ok.
Then it update.
Is it a software limit? A bug? An error in the workflow? Thank you guys
I just upgraded 17 workstations to Product Design Suite 2014.
I already uninstalled and reinstalled the entore product design suite, this did not solve the issue.
