I've had this problem since I installed Inventor 2014, I checked all my templates that I use if they were set for radian, but none of them were. I've screwed around with the application options, couldn't find anything that worked. I even went as far as resetting all my settings. Wasted a lot of my time. Would also like it to be kilograms instead of lbmass, which I can't get to switch either, only have gotten the Length to change within the option setting when I open the step file.
So is there any permanent way to make my default step import angle to be degrees and mass be kilogram?
I had problems using, so I exported licience and remove application and re installed Acad LT now I can't get the licience to import back. I have the selection under acad lt 2007 but nothing happens when i click on it, nothing launches
When making a dimension, I right click to use the "Annotation plan" option to put the dimension on a selected part plan, see the second detail attached, but in another detail (The first one) that option is not available, and it gives me wrong dimension as it automatically uses the sheet plan option, the 35 deg dimension supposed to be 45 deg, does anyone know why?
When I try to install Revit 14 service pack 2 i get an error that says: "The update release could not be installed because the expected AutoDesk product could not be located on your computer. make sure that you are using the correct update release for the product".
I double checked and my existing version has service pack 1 installed.
I have tried to install both the 32 and the 64 bit version, just in case that was the problem.
Here are some other facts about my original install:
1. I am using the education version to teach Revit.
2. (per many other blogs and many hours of research confirming this is ok to do) I installed the program on my external hard drive, that uses the letter E.
My hunch is that the installer automatically looks for drive C. If this is the case, I am highly disappointed in the installer and the product, as there is NO INTERFACE where the drive location could be specified. (people - and here I mean AutoDesk programmers - really have to start thinking outside the box... there are still users out there who like to have the ability to make decisions about hardware and data locations...)
... Before I jump to these conclusions I will wait to see if someone can explain the error.
I would really like to show my students how to use the daylighting tool I read about in AutoDesk Labs.
Waiting for a MUCH appreciated hint or answer.
From the plot menu, I have to select properties, custom properties, page setup, select borderless and rotate page 90 degrees every time I print a 24 x 36 Arch D page. If I do not, the page prints length wise wasting 3 sq ft of paper for every print.
Am I missing something? I did not have to do this for any of the previous versions of CAD that I used.
I've noticed that in Revit LT, there is no column for structural in the wall Edit Assembly window.
But I just noticed that if I add a core element, then widen the window, then an "E" column appears. At first the core element that was already there will not have a checkbox in this column. If I check a box for a newly added core element, then a checkbox will appear for the previously existing core element.
I have not found so far any reference to it in the tutorial I'm doing, nor in help.
It will allow only one core element to be checked, similar to if it was the structural column.
So what is this "E" column for? What property does it give an element?
I'm currently updating a Tool Palette with new blocks. It was all going well until I tried to make changes on the path of the TP (options > files > tool palettes) to the companys network. The DWG containing the blocks, which I am updating, was already in the network. My problem is that I created some more blocks but when I highlight any block in the file and try to drag it to the palette to add it there, it won't work as it was. I tried setting the TP path to the old TP file path but without any luck.
I appreciatte any help !
I am trying to draw a line onto a generic annotation at a specific angle, Revit will only allow me to place lines at 1 degree increments, how do I adjust/turn off this setting? I am sure I have seen this in menus before, perhaps when modeling services as opposed to drawing lines?
Just wondering if anyone has an opinion or experience with the "Cubex" 3D printer? Thank you very much.
I have a lisp file
By type of "CHOFFSETS" command, it says "Select a lightweight polyline" but after indicating a curved or arc polyline I hit this error:
"Command stopped due to error: bad argument type: 2D/3D point: (9024.33 3549.94 nil)"
Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
Will AutoCAD LT 2012 run on Windows 8? I am going to need a new computer soon and am not sure if I should configure it with Windows 7 or 8. I am currently using a 64 bit Windows 8 machine. Thanks!
I have been set the task of creating a bespoke corporate ribbon for use in Inventor 2014 using VB 2010 Express. So far I have managed to create the ribbon, complete with panels & custom buttons, but now finding myself needing a bit of assistance.
I now need to link these buttons to their individual operations, such as triggering a rule within the model template, etc. Whilst there seems to be bits and pieces of information available on the forum, they all assume that you are fully conversant with where the pieces of code needs to go in order for the action to work.
Unfortunately, I am a complete newbie when it comes to this, so can anybody direct me to where I can find a simple set of instructions as to how to do this in VB.Net so I can understand the logic involved.
Many thanks in advance
Hi, I am hoping someone can help. We are currently using Inventor 2013, with a PDM intergrater. This has been working fine for 10+ months, now for no apparent reason the add is not visiable once you have opened/ created a part..
In the 'add in' sub menu the add- in is showing as loaded. We have tried re-installing inventor this does not work. Has anybody got any ideas?
Dear CAD experts,
I'm relatively new to AutoCAD, and am still in a constant state of wonder at all the possibilities. However, for a current assigment my employer has a question I, uptill now, have been unable to answer, and I'm hoping someone here might know.
I export a number of annotations from a GIS environment to a DWG. There I change them from single- to multiline texts with the custom lisp TXT2MTXT. So far, so good. However, in the GIS data the text is formatted in two different fonts; Arial for readable text and Windings for a symbol or two. In the DWG, all text is representated with one font, giving us characters such as ä and ã where we would expect symbols. Individually selecting the text parts and formatting them to Windings again is not difficult, but very time consuming. So, what I'm looking for is a combination between the Find and Replace function, together with formatting to a different font.
Anybody got a suggestion? A tip, a trick, a lisp, anything! Thanks!
While just working around and a beginner in surface modelling, I wonder what is the differnce in surface modelling done in Autodesk "AutoCAD" and that in "Inventor". Iam working over 2014 versions of these softwares.
Is knowing any one of these modelling package is quite suffecient for 3D modelling
I'm using AutoCAD 2004. I know it's probably no longer being supported, but I was hoping you guys could help me out as to what this error means. I tried googling it, but google didn't know. All I was doing when the error occured was trying to open a drawing from within AutoCAD.
If we purchase Autocad LT and then later decided that we wanted the full Autocad program, is there a way to pay a fee and upgrade?
I am trying to draw a plantroom, but seem to be struggling with drawing the boiler flues. I can draw the route in pipework, but obviously this is not right. I tried to change the type but again this only looks at pipework types.
Any ideas on how i can do this?
An AutoCAD installation has a ROAMABLEROOTPREFIX set to a temp folder which is causing it to fail to load properly.
Symptoms include missing acad menu file - so no interface at all.
Is this set at install time?
Do i have to dig into the registry to edit it to "C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2012 - English\R18.2\enu\"
Or will a repair or reinstall do the trick? Many thanks for any help.
